Basis bildet eine Befragung von 149 Firmen aus dem Business-to-Consumer-Markt, die vom Lehrstuhl für Dienstleistungsmanagement der Katholischen Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Bernd Stauss durchgeführt wurde. Die Ergebnisse zeigen deutlich, wie derzeit Beschwerdemanagement in den Unternehmen praktiziert wird, welche Aspekte dabei am wichtigsten sind und wo noch der größte Umsetzungsbedarf besteht. Geschäftsführer, Marketingleiter und Leiter von Kundenservice-Abteilungen finden hier fundierte Hilfen, um ihr eigenes Beschwerdemanagement zu bewerten, es weiterzuentwickeln und zu verbessern.
