Entsprechend der Entwicklung in Amerika und England finden auch in Deutschland immer mehr absatzpolitische MaBnahmen Anwendung, die schwer oder gar nicht unter herkommlicher Werbung, Publicity oder PersonlichemVerkauf einzuordnen sind. Diese MaBnahmen richten sich an den Verbraucher, den Handel oder den Vertreterstab und werden ohne Rucksicht auf ihre Heterogenitat unter dem wei ten Sammelbegriff "Sales Promotion" zusammengefaBt. 1972 betrug der Sales-Promotion-Aufwand in Amerika 9,4 Milliarden Dollar, in England 497 Millionen Pfund und in Deutschland 5,5 Milliarden 1) DM. In Hinblick auf die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung dieser Betrage v- wundert, daB Sales -Promotion-MaBnahmen bisher bei we item nicht die ihnen gebUhrende Achtung finden. Das gilt vor allem fur diejenigen MaBnahmen, die direkt auf den Ver braucher abzie1en. Verglichen mit allen anderen absatzpolitischen An strengungen nimmt ihre Anwendung am schnellsten zu. Trotzdem haben sie bisher keine einheitliche Bezeichnung, und es besteht allgemeine Unk1arheit uber ihre Gesta1tungsformen, ihre Anwendungsmoglichkeiten sowie tiber das AusmaJ3 ihres bisherigen Einsatzes. Diese Lucken zu schlie13en s011 Aufgabe der Arbeit sein. Dabei muB ein leitend eine grundlegende Begriffsbestimmung die zu untersuchenden Ma13nahmen charakterisieren und eine Abgrenzung gegenuber den anderen absatzpolitischen Anstrengungen ihre Einordnung im Marketing-Mix klar stellen.
