These are then aged (matured) in a combination of American oak, sherry and double charred bourbon casks. Charring is an age-old method for invigorating barrels to intensify the taste. The resulting whiskey has a sweet and smooth taste, with a richer flavour than that of the regular Jameson. This is balanced with nutty, spice and vanilla notes. This made it winner of the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) Double Gold medal.
