Ledaig 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70 cl Established in 1798, Tobermory is The Isle of Mull’s only whisky distillery and one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. It sits at the centre of the vibrant island community from which it takes its name. Tobermory’s past however, is as colourful as the towns seafront. A chequered story marked by closures and financial troubles has, on more than one occasion, threatened its very existence. Yet with creativity and dedication, Tobermory has endured its troubles. After its most recent hiatus in production for much needed maintenance and renovation, Tobermory Distillery has in 2019, re-opened its doors and fired up its stills once more. Under the Tobermory Distillery name this Artisan Hebridean Distiller now produces Tobermory and Ledaig Single Malts and for the first time in its history, Tobermory Gin. Within our Ledaig 18 Year Old whisky, expect a rich, fruity sherried smokiness on the nose, alongside a lovely balance of phenols, seaweed and light creosote, dried chilli flakes, spicy black pepper with hints of sweet oakiness. On the palate, discover powerful rich, sherried, herbal smoky flavours, orange peel, coffee, a touch of sea salt, tobacco and white pepper. The finish is long and quite pungent with more smoke, a hint of liquorice and sea spray. Within our Ledaig 10 Year Old Single Malt, you can expect rich island character with tantalising hints of grass, malt, gingerbread, stewed fruit syrup and finely polished oak on the nose. The palate gives way to a smooth, velvety mouthfeel with fruity tangs and exquisitely spiced gingerbread and aniseed. The finish presents ginger and spicy oak, matched with bitter chocolate and almond that gently fades with a tail of sweet salty seas.
