Ledaig Sinclair Series Rioja Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 700ml Established in 1798, Tobermory is The Isle of Mull’s only whisky distillery and one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. It sits at the centre of the vibrant island community from which it takes its name. Tobermory’s past however, is as colourful as the towns seafront. A chequered story marked by closures and financial troubles has, on more than one occasion, threatened its very existence. Yet with creativity and dedication, Tobermory has endured its troubles. After its most recent hiatus in production for much needed maintenance and renovation, Tobermory Distillery has in 2019, re-opened its doors and fired up its stills once more. Under the Tobermory Distillery name this Artisan Hebridean Distiller now produces Tobermory and Ledaig Single Malts and for the first time in its history, Tobermory Gin. This Ledaig Single Malt has been finished in hand selected rioja casks for almost 2 years by the harbour in the coastal village of Tobermory on Mull, this vibrant single malt is the perfect marriage of smoke, fruity rioja sweetness and spice, rich & full bodied, with a sea salty finish. Its is the first release of the Sinclair Series, inspired by distillery founder, John Sinclair, to launch from the award-winning, artisanal Tobermory Distillery. Tobermory is famously known for its bright and colourful houses , and the vibrant packaging of this single malt, is a reflection of this. Inspired also by the deep red colour of the single malt whisky itself, which has been slowly maturing in hand-selected Rioja casks. Within our Ledaig 10 Year Old Single Malt, you can expect rich island character with tantalising hints of grass, malt, gingerbread, stewed fruit syrup and finely polished oak on the nose. The palate gives way to a smooth, velvety mouthfeel with fruity tangs and exquisitely spiced gingerbread and aniseed. The finish presents ginger and spicy oak, matched with bitter chocolate and almond that gently fades with a tail of sweet salty seas.
