Madeira Single Malt Whisky is the original Penderyn ‘house style’, aged in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in ex-Madeira wine casks to bring out its full gold character. It is bottled at 46 Percent abv. Madeira offers classic freshness with aromas of cream toffee, rich fruit and raisins. The whisky is crisp and ideally rounded, with the sweetness to balance an appetising dryness. A profile of oaky vanilla tones/dry sweetness, that ends on notes of tropical fruit, raisins and vanilla. Distilling in Wales was a lost art, but in the late 1990s, in a Hirwaun pub in the Welsh valleys, a group of friends chatted about establishing the first whisky distillery in Wales in over a century. They dreamt of creating a whisky as pure and precious as Welsh gold, represented today by Penderyn’s ‘gold seam’.
