He has worked since then at the Department of English at Högskolan Dalarna in Sweden teaching courses in syntax, morphology, and pragmatics, among others. His research has moved onto computer-mediated communication, and in particular, language economy. He is investigating the pragmatic contexts that allow language to be reduced and how this has a community-building function. He is also working on the English of Vietnamese learners, focusing on transfer of syntactic and morphological features from Vietnamese.
