Description

Product Description Engineering Principles, Modelling and Economics of Evaporative Coolers covers the basic engineering and technical principles behind the operation and construction of evaporative coolers, also highlighting challenges. The book presents the reader with selected case studies on modelling in the cooling chamber and explains the economic implications an evaporative structure can bring. Edited by a team of specialists, the book also explains the strong dependence of the technology’s performance on environmental conditions, and hence the limits on temperature control in the preservation of post-harvest agriculture products. Evaporative coolers are an ancient technology, invented long before the introduction of chemical refrigerants as used in modern fridges or cooling towers. This two volume set covers the topic, with practical applications, construction techniques, and operation of the technology. Review Presents best practices in the control and optimization of evaporative cooling system operation About the Author Daniel Ingo Hefft is a process engineer and Chartered Engineer (CEng) with more than 6 years of solid experience within the FMCG sector and research community. He is the founder and Chief Technology Officer of Rheality Ltd, a university spin out based on a co-invention that enables live and in situ rheological measurements on a non-destructive basis. First clients include the world’s leading shampoo and conditioner manufacturer. Charles Oluwaseun Adetunji is an Ag. Director of Intellectual Properties and Technology Transfer as well as an Associate Professor of Microbiology and Biotechnology at the Microbiology Department, Faculty of Science, Edo State University Uzairue, Edo State, Nigeria, where he utilized the application of biological techniques and microbial bioprocesses for the actualization of sustainable development goals. He has won numerous scientific awards and grants from renowned academic bodies, has filled several scientific patents on Bioherbicides, Biopesticides, nanobiosurfactants, and nanobiopesticdes, and has published over 270 scientific journals and conference proceedings in both national and international journals. His broad research interests cover topics relating to food security, agriculture and environmental sustainability, including microbiology, biotechnology, post-harvest management, and nanotechnology. Dr Adetunji is an editorial board member of many international journals serves as a reviewer to many double-blind peer review journals. In addition, he is a member of many scientific organisations and, over the last fifteen years, has built strong working collaborations with reputable research groups in numerous and leading Universities across the globe. TS Workneh is an Associate Professor at the Agricultural Engineering Discipline. He has graduated with B.Sc. Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Alemaya University, Ethiopia and holds a PhD, Food Science, Department of Microbial, Biochemical and Food Biotechnology, The University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa. He has a diverse range of research interests such as: Heat and Mass Transfer, Hybrid Drying Technology and Food Quality and Food Safety. Duncan Onyango Mbuge holds a Ph.D. Environmental and Bio-systems Engineering, University of Nairobi. He is Chairman of the Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering. He is also a Senior Lecturer, Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering (March 2012 – Present) - Lecturing and Research in Power and Machinery, Process and Food Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental management and conservation in construction, Renewable Energy, Infrastructure Engineering including greenhouse design, Construction materials and workshop techniques.
