Mezcal Del Suelo is handcrafted in the remote village of San Luis del Río, Oaxaca, capturing the rich, complex flavours unique to its rugged mountains and mineral-rich soils. Unlike tequila, which can only be made with Blue Weber agave, Del Suelo Mezcal is crafted from carefully selected wild and cultivated agave plants, harvested only at full maturity for genuine depth of flavour. Tradition in Every Drop: Our mezcal is produced using traditional methods passed down through generations. After maturing under the Oaxacan sun, agave piñas are harvested by hand, slow-roasted in stone-lined earth pits, and gently crushed with a stone wheel. Natural fermentation with wild yeasts, followed by double distillation in copper stills, results in a smooth, smoky spirit with layers of earthy sweetness. Sustainably Sourced, Respectfully Made: Del Suelo puts planet and people first. Each agave is grown using sustainable farming, ensuring the health of the land for future generations. We uphold fair standards, paying farmers and artisans fairly and treating every hand involved with respect. Our commitment to the environment extends to our bottles, made from 100% post-consumer recycled “wild glass,” reducing production waste by up to 25%. The People - Don Baltazar Cruz Gómez is Del Suelo’s master mezcalero, raised in a family of agave cultivators and deeply rooted in mezcal traditions. Alí Rogelio Ramírez, though not from a mezcal-making lineage, traveled across Oaxaca to learn the craft. He later invested in Del Suelo’s palenque and now collaborates closely with Don Baltazar, blending innovation with tradition. As co-owner, Alí also champions sustainability and community in the mezcal world.
