NKF: Piet Zwart’s Avant-Garde Catalog for Standard Cables: 1927–1928

An accompanying critical supplement includes fascinating essays by design scholars Philip B. Meggs and Paul Stirton, a rich selection of rarely seen projects from Zwart’s decade-long relationship with NKF and a translation of Zwart’s original manifesto. Piet Zwart (1885–1977) originally trained as an architect at the National School of Applied Arts in Amsterdam. He incorporated aspects of Constructivism and De Stijl into his typographic work for the Nederlandse Kabelfabriek Delft and the Dutch postal service. In 2000 he was posthumously awarded “Designer of the Century” by the Association of Dutch Designers.
