A modest sculptor around 1900 appears to be the knot in many lines around the globe. The sculptor Carel Wirtz (1872-1956) turned out to have an extremely interesting family and in-laws, who together form an interesting tableau of the cultural history of The Netherlands. Connecting it to Germany, Belgium, Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Twelve biographies with background information visualize these lines. They invite to further exploration. They form a shared past with each other. From the Netherlands, and from the UK and the US.
