Product Description CARLOS I AMONTILLADO · BRANDY DE JEREZ SOLERA GRAN RESERVA The history of Carlos I brandies dates back to 1889, when a cellermaster in Jerez discovered some mysterious casks in a corner of his cellar. Neither he nor anyone else knew where they came from, but he immediately realized they contained the finest brandy he had ever tasted. ""A brandy to conquer the world"" he thought. And that is why he named it after the Spanish King, Carlos I. Since then, all our brandies are aged in sherry casks and made using the unparalleled Criaderas and Solera system in which young brandies are mixed with more mature blends. Production and ageing: Carlos I Amontillado is a unique in its class brandy, aged in centuries-old casks hand selected from our La Honda Amontillado Solera. The result is an spirit with complex saline and mineral notes, hints of dried fruit and a silky and elegant finish. Awards: Gold Medal at 2019 'Concours Mondial de Bruxelles'. Tasting notes: Appearance - An attractive amber hue, very bright with greenish highlights. Nose - Reminiscent of fine wood, with the unmistakeable influence of very old amontillado, bringing notes of hazelnuts, walnuts and toasted almonds. Palate - Very silky on the palate. Dry, resembling almond and hazelnut. Serving suggestions: Enjoy Carlos I Amontillado on its own.
