Product Description
Product Description Facundo Paraiso is the ultimate triumph in the art of rum. Based on 150 years of tradition, it’s a dark rum that’s a very rare and very special part of the Facundo Rum Collection, the first-ever collection of aged rums selected from the BACARDÍ family’s private reserves. With its complex and subtle taste, Facundo Paraiso is a truly exceptional sipping rum. The Maestros de Ron access the family’s most prized reserves and artfully hand select each of the rums used in the blend. Paraiso is made up of some of the oldest rums in the Collection, which have been aged in white oak. There are four rums in the Facundo Collection, together, they embody more than 150 years of skillful and gifted rum-making. Named after the founder of BACARDÍ, Don Facundo’s signature is emblazoned on the glass of every bottle. Each one of them is extraordinary, bringing on new levels of depth and taste. They are all handcrafted with passion, elevating rum into a form of art. For those who appreciate the finest things, the rums of the Facundo Collection make an excellent rum gift set. Each of the four rums comes in a gift box with a unique bottle that is a work of art unto itself. A bottle of Facundo Paraiso makes a strong statement, both in look and taste, and is something that deserves to be savoured. Paraiso is the Spanish word for paradise, and that is indeed the appropriate name for this rum. The exquisitely crafted bottle that contains it is itself a tribute to BACARDÍ family history. The three images on the bottle reflect BACARDÍ in the golden era of Cuba, representing the first distillery, the first office and El Murcielago BACARDÍ, the iconic bat that is the BACARDÍ family symbol. Facundo Paraiso begins with the rarest, finest and most distinguished rums from the BACARDÍ Family Library, which is comprised of more than 300 rums from Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. Some of the rums used are charcoal filtered prior to ageing, which takes place in white oak barrels. The barrels are left untouched during the ageing process, and sit in one place, so that Mother Nature, the wood, the warm tropical sun and the sea air can work in harmony to create a rum that is truly ethereal. Paraiso is then finished in French XO Sherry casks, some of which are more than 60 years old. Experiencing Paraiso begins by appreciating its luxurious appearance, featuring a distinctive and deep amber colour. This sets the tone for the aroma, which is complex and subtle. Scents of luscious vanilla, almond biscotti, nutmeg and honeycomb delight the nose as they rise and develop. The taste itself begins with a luxurious mouth feel. Notes of pralines, caramel and fresh sweet pea come first, followed by dry oak tannins that are pronounced yet still mellow. The finish is very long, combining sweet fruit with the pralines and caramel. It’s a taste to try again and again, as additional subtleties and complexities slowly reveal themselves.
