A bottle of Facundo Eximo makes a strong statement, both in look and taste, and is something that deserves to be savoured. Facundo Eximo is an artisanal product, and a tribute to tradition. The name Eximo – Latin “to free” – refers to Facundo Eximo being free from preconceived notions. That also includes the unique way it’s crafted: Eximo is the only rum in the collection that is blended before ageing. The creation of Eximo begins with selections drawn from the BACARDÍ Family Library of Rums, comprised of more than 300 rums from Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. The chosen rums are then audaciously blended by the Maestros de Ron BACARDÍ. Following that, every drop of Facundo Eximo is aged and rested in white oak barrels for a minimum of 10 years. The barrels are left untouched during the ageing process, and sit in one place, so that Mother Nature, the wood, the warm tropical sun and the sea air can work in harmony to create a rum that is truly ethereal. The Eximo experience begins with the beautifully clear, deep coppery amber color. This is accentuated by the fine styling of the bottle. On the nose, the sweet scent of plump raisins, vanilla and ripe banana are softened by notes of mocha coffee and dark chocolate, with hints of nutmeg, cinnamon and black pepper adding some spice. The taste begins with a buttery richness. There are notes of toasty raisin fruit cake, dry oak tannins, dark chocolate, tobacco, nougat and vanilla. The finish continues with those flavours, before concluding with notes of oak and bitter chocolate. As a luxury sipping rum, Eximo is best enjoyed neat, with a splash of water or over ice.
