The creation of Exquisito begins with handpicked selections drawn from the BACARDÍ Family Library of Rums, comprised of more than 300 rums from Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. The rums selected for the Exquisito premier blend range in age, and are charcoal filtered prior to barrel ageing in oak. The barrels are left untouched during the ageing process, and sit in one place, so that Mother Nature, the wood, the warm tropical sun and the sea air can work in harmony to create a rum that is truly ethereal. Exquisito is then finished in Sherry casks, which lend the rum an incomparably smooth, warm and mellow profile. The younger rums in Exquisito provide a touch of fruitiness. This marries perfectly with the smokier, deeper character of the older rums. The combination is a smooth and silky blend, full of distinct aromas and flavours. Exquisito makes a strong first impression with its characteristic deep golden red tones. Scents of cinnamon, walnut and fruitcake greet the nose, with touches of leather, banana, cherry and black pepper. These are aromas that develop and grow as the glass warms in the hand.
