Since 1887, Habitation Clément has been producing Rhums Agricole of great quality in the purest tradition and according to the rules inherited by the founder Homère and his son Charles Clément. The brand is now an integral part of the history of the island and of the people of Martinique ! Rhum Agricole from Martinique is distilled from pure sugarcane juice and produced according to the strict rules of the French AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée), testifying the premium quality and unique terroir of Martinique rhum production. Fresh sugarcane is pressed then fermented and distilled to preserve natural aromas and flavors of terroir and the natural vegetal character of the sugarcane. 100% made from the aromatic free-run juice of sugarcane, not molasses. The aging is done in new French oak, new American oak or ex-American Bourbon barrels according to the cellar master needs. Clément VSOP was aged during a minimum of 4 years in oak and ex-Bourbon barrels at Habitation Clément. During this period, the rum obtained this beautiful amber colour and its distinctive woody and vanilla notes with a finish that reminisces the smoke of the Bourbon barrel.
