Driven by a state-of-the-art microcomputer, BC BRAVO 2000 not only monitors the safety and the effective charging of the battery, but it also automatically reduces energy consumption to a minimum and it guarantees a high level of protection thanks to its spark-proof system and to its protections against overcharge, polarity inversion and short circuit. CHARGING ALGORITHM - CHARGING PROGRAM The battery charger is internally controlled by a microprocessor which monitors the battery condition in real time and executes automatically 8 charging cycles. - Step 1 - Initialization: it verifies if one or more cells are shorted, to check whether the battery is in a proper condition to be recovered/recharged. - Step 2 - Recovery: if the battery is extremely discharged (starting from 1.25V), the device tries to recover it, taking it back to a higher voltage compatible with the following step. - Step 3 - Soft Charge: if the battery is in significantly discharged, the device provides a light pulsing current to the battery, to overcome the critical phase. - Step 4 - Bulk Charge: during this phase, the device provides full current to the battery, recovering about 85-90% of the battery capacity. - Step 5 - Desulfation / Absorption: during this phase the device provides a "controlled overcharge" to recover the remaining 10-15% of the battery capacity, through the desulfation/recovery of the lead-acid cells (for low or medium sulfation). - Step 6 - Battery Analysis: the device stops providing current for a few tens of minutes and verifies if the battery is able to retain the charge received during the previous charging cycles. The test is periodically repeated at regular intervals. - Step 7 - Maintenance: thanks to a specially designed electronic circuit, the device maintains the battery charged during periods of inactivity, without overheating, overcharging and water/electrolyte loss. - Step 8 - Equalization: during long term maintenance, every 30 days the device executes an equalization charge to rebalance the battery cells, avoiding phenomena of electrolyte stratification.
