Quiquiriqui Espadín, a Mezcal born in the Mixteca region of Oaxaca, embodies the deep-rooted traditions, culture and folklore of the region. The three fundamental parts to our Mezcals are agave, terroir, and process, all parts linking together to create a unique liquid. Expect flavours of roasted agave, herbal pine undertones, and a classic white pepper finish, all faithfully reflecting the agave plants’ landscape. Bottled at a traditional 45 Percent ABV, it delivers clarity of flavour and a balanced finish. Each drop is handmade in the Mixteca region by agave farmer and fourth-generation Mezcalero Julio Sánchez Gómez. His dedication to the craft is evident in every bottle, showcasing the rich heritage and meticulous care that goes into mezcal production. Julio’s knowledge of the soil, climate, and agave plants is passed down through generations, ensuring that each batch builds upon the wisdom of the last. Only the most mature agave are hand harvested, their hearts are slow-roasted in earthen pit ovens lined with volcanic rock over several days. The roasted agave is rested for a week, then milled and wild fermented in open-air wooden vats. Finally the fermented liquid is carefully double distilled in 300ltr copper pot stills. No chemicals, colourings, preservatives, or additives are used at any stage. The result of Julio and his family’s hard work is a spirit that captures the essence of tradition and craftsmanship, offering a unique tasting experience with each sip.
