Die Studie befasst sich mit der inklusiven Bildung als einem demokratischen Modell, das das gemeinsame Lernen von Schülern mit und ohne sonderpädagogischen Förderbedarf in Regelschulen fördert und dabei das Tempo und die Besonderheiten jedes Einzelnen respektiert. Die globale Gesetzgebung erkennt Bildung als Grundrecht an und erlegt den Institutionen die Pflicht zur Inklusion auf. Um die Anwendung dieser Rechtsvorschriften zu analysieren, wurde die Städtische Schule Santa Rita de Cássia in Guaíba/RS ausgewählt, weil dort die Inklusion einen hohen Stellenwert hat und weil es keine akademischen Studien in diesem Bereich gibt. Das Hauptziel besteht darin, die Wirksamkeit der Schule bei der Einhaltung der brasilianischen Gesetzgebung zu überprüfen. Bei der Untersuchung handelt es sich um eine qualitative, erklärende Fallstudie, bei der Fragebögen an Manager, Lehrer, Eltern und Schüler verschickt wurden, um Themen wie die Einhaltung von Gesetzen, die Lehrerausbildung und die Wahrnehmung der Inklusion durch die Schulgemeinschaft zu analysieren. Die Schlussfolgerung ist, dass die Schule die Rechtsvorschriften einhält, über ausgebildete Lehrkräfte verfügt und dass die Inklusion menschlich gut akzeptiert wird, dass es aber Unterschiede in Bezug auf die Auswirkungen auf das Lernen gibt.
