Geschäftsmodelle orientieren sich an Kundenbedürfnissen, kombinieren unterschiedliche Elemente eines Unternehmens miteinander und stiften somit einen Kundennutzen. Geschäftsmodelle sind häufig schwerer imitierbar als Produkte, Dienstleistungen oder Prozesse und ermöglichen Unternehmen eine bessere Differenzierung gegenüber Wettbewerbern. Im Rahmen dieser Dissertation erfolgt die Entwicklung einer Methode für Geschäftsmodell-Innovation. Daneben findet die Entwicklung generischer Geschäftsmodelle für den Business-to-Business-Bereich statt.
