Desde que inicié mi proyecto de tesis, pensé en el dilema que ha originado en las universidades venezolanas el rol docente-investigador. Por supuesto, estar involucrado como actor me facilitó observar y establecer conversaciones con los amigos y colegas, lo que reorientó las ideas iniciales profundizando en este contexto que pocos han explorado desde la voz de quienes lo vivimos día a día. Además, al estudiar autores como Kenneth Gergen y Tomás Ibáñez, me animó más por sus posiciones ontológicas y epistemológicas, e inmediatamente las relacioné con mis ideas iniciales de ir al interior de lo vivido cotidianamente en la universidad. De aquí mi mirada socioconstruccionista referida a la tendencia emergente de investigación social contemporánea, dando cabida a las metodologías de tendencias cualitativas. Asimismo, mi motivación por este estudio, fue especialmente el sentido de identidad y la forma como se perciben las acciones sociales, construyendo el propósito investigativo en torno a conocer las relaciones entre las normas institucionales, los roles y las acciones sociales. Esta interrelación permitió la conceptualización de la sociedad docente como construcción social.
