Dennoch nimmt die Anzahl der Online-Befragungen mit der steigenden Bedeutung des Internets ständig zu, und es ist zu erwarten, dass Online-Befragungen in der Zukunft der Marktforschung eine wichtige, wenn auch keine dominierende Rolle spielen werden. Die besondere Herausforderung bei der Durchführung einer Online-Befragung besteht in der Erreichung eines Gleichgewichts zwischen der neuen technischen Möglichkeiten und den Regeln und Standards der konventionellen Marktforschung, die auch in der virtuellen Welt beachtet werden müssen. Dieses Buch führt in die Kunst der wissenschaftlichen Durchführung von Online-Befragungen ein und liefert unter anderem Informationen zu Fragen der Repräsentativität solcher Befragungen, zur Incentivierung anonymer Nutzer und zum Umgang mit Abbrechern, Ausreißern und Scherz-Teilnehmern.
