Im Zuge der fortschreitenden Internationalisierung gewinnen kooperative Wettbewerbsstrategien zunehmend an Bedeutung. Den sogenannten Strategischen Allianzen als intensiver Form zwischenbetrieblicher Zusammenarbeit wird dabei besondere Erfolgsrelevanz beigemessen. Die vorliegende Arbeit erweitert die wettbewerbsstrategische Diskussion um die mittelstandsorientierte Perspektive. Basierend auf einer breit angelegten theoretischen Analyse wird ein eigenständiges Modell zur Erklärung Internationaler Strategischer Allianzen im Mittelstand entwickelt. Die mit Hilfe dieses transaktionskostentheoretisch orientierten Modells generierten Wirkungshypothesen wurden in einer empirischen Studie getestet. Dabei konnten umfangreiche Erkenntnisse über die Ausprägungen und die Erfolgsrelevanzen von Internationalen Strategischen Allianzen des deutschen Mittelstandes gewonnen werden.
