Description

This Routledge academic work explores the unexpected ideological convergence between postcolonial theory and Hindu nationalist movements in India. The book examines how the Postcolonial Left's critique of Western rationality and modernity has inadvertently provided conceptual tools for the Hindu Right's agenda of decolonizing Hindu thought. Published within the Routledge Edinburgh South Asian Studies Series, this study traces parallels between contemporary postcolonial projects to provincialise Europe and nineteenth-century Hindu revivalist movements. The author argues that postcolonial thought in India shares significant intellectual and historical affinities with Hindu nationalist ideology, offering a critical analysis of how anti-Western epistemological frameworks have been appropriated across the political spectrum. Essential reading for scholars of South Asian politics, postcolonial studies, and the ideological foundations of modern Hindu nationalism.
