Description

Experience the latest full-length album from New York tenor saxophonist James Brandon Lewis. Apple Cores is a powerful jazz release that blends the rhythms and textures of hip-hop and funk with deep jazz roots. Recorded during two intense, entirely improvised sessions, this album features Lewis performing alongside Chad Taylor on drums and mbira, and Josh Werner on bass and guitar. This vinyl release carries deep historical significance, taking its name and intention from the column written by poet and jazz theorist Amiri Baraka for DownBeat in the 1960s. Recognized by The Guardian as one of the fiercest sounds in jazz today, Lewis brings a unique approach to exploration through this EPITAPH label release. This high-quality vinyl is perfect for collectors and fans of modern jazz and improvised music.
