Growing to just 12 inches tall, it produces an abundance of bright orange-yellow cherry tomatoes with a sweet and juicy flavour. Thriving in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil, Venus requires minimal care and no staking. Its vibrant fruits, ease of growth, and decorative appeal make it a favourite for gardeners with limited space.
All our seeds are grown on our own farm in South Wales.
LIGHT: Tomato seedlings thrive in abundant light. Providing 12-16 hours of bright, indirect sunlight daily is essential for their growth. If natural sunlight is insufficient, consider using fluorescent or LED grow lights. Maintain a distance of 2-4 inches between the light source and seedlings to prevent leggy growth. Adequate light promotes photosynthesis, allowing the seedlings to generate the energy necessary for robust development and healthy foliage.
SOIL & NUTRIENTS: Choosing the right soil and nutrients is pivotal. Begin with a well-draining potting mix enriched with organic matter like compost. To provide essential nutrients, use a balanced fertilizer every two weeks after germination. Aim for a pH level of 6.0-6.8 to facilitate nutrient uptake. Regularly monitor for signs of nutrient deficiencies, such as yellowing leaves, and adjust your fertilizer regimen accordingly.
WATER: Proper watering is crucial for tomato seedlings' success. Maintain consistent soil moisture by avoiding both overwatering and underwatering. Water at the base of the plants using a gentle spray to minimize the risk of fungal diseases. As the seedlings grow, adjust the amount of water to match their increasing size and needs. Maintaining appropriate moisture levels is essential for establishing strong root systems and promoting sturdy growth.
