AVITOPIA - Birds of Zambia

Zambia is a landlocked country in southern Afrka and is covered to a large extent by Miombo forest, where almost all Miombo-specialized bird species occur. Zambia has 19 national parks, but not all are full of animals. The Lochinvar National Park, however, offers excellent opportunities to observe waterfowl. In addition, Zambia has excellent habitats with grassland and mountainous character. According to BirdLife International, Zambia has two Endemic Bird Areas (EBA) and shares two more with neighboring states. The high level of avidiversity and the relatively good infrastructure should make Zambia a much more frequently visited destination for birdwatchers than it is now.
