Description

The Kenko Starry Night Prosofton is an effect filter that combines the effects of "Starry Night", which reduces light pollution, and "Prosofton", which blurs the spot-shaped light sources of the stars beautifully, into one filter, making it the perfect effect filter for shooting starry landscapes. Since two effects can be achieved with a single filter, the need to stack filters is eliminated and the risk of vignetting and stray light is reduced. The thin frame is designed to avoid vignetting even when shooting with wide-angle lenses. Main features: [Effect1] Light pollution reduction effect to reduce colour casts caused by city lights Sodium vapour and mercury lamps as well as other street lights cause yellow and orange colour casts in the night sky, but Starry Night Prosofton only cuts out the light of certain frequencies corresponding to these colours, allowing natural colour reproduction. [Effect2] Soft effect that highlights the constellation while keeping the landscape and background clear A soft effect that blurs images of bright stars beautifully and brings constellations to life. "The Starry Night Prosofton" corresponds to the "Kenko PRO1D Prosofton Clear(W)". The soft focus effect is only applied to spot light sources such as stars and does not affect the surrounding landscape. Therefore, it is suitable for starry landscapes or if you want to apply soft focus effects only to stars. [Other Features] ■ Multiple coating to suppress stray light and ghosting when filters are attached. ■The black edged glass minimises reflections inside the frame. ■The thin frame design prevents vignetting even when using ultra-wide angle lenses. ■Knurled frame for easy installation and removal. ■Lens cap can be put on. Please note that: ・The magnification factor for exposure is 1/3 stops. So if you shoot the starry sky with manual exposure, the image will be underexposed if you use the same settings as without a filter. ・The effect can be achieved in AWB mode (automatic white balance), but you can also set the fluorescent light mode or adjust the colour temperature according to your wishes. ・The filter cannot completely reduce the light of sodium vapour lamps and mercury lamps. Since light pollution comes from numerous light sources, this filter cannot suppress all light pollution. Key Features

Light pollution reduction & constellation accentuationWhile suppressing the color tint caused by sodium-vapor lamps, mercury lamps, etc., the filter brings the light of the bright stars through, accentuating the constellations.

Effect1. Light pollution-cutting effect to restrain color casts caused by city lights.Sodium-vapor and mercury lamps and other streetlights cause yellow and orange color casts in the night sky, but "Starry Night Prosofton" cuts out only the light of specific frequencies that correspond to these colors, allowing for natural color reproduction.

Effect 2. Soft effect to make the constellation picture stand out while the landscape and background remain clear.A soft effect that makes picture of bright stars blur beautifully and brings constellations to life. "Starry Night Prosofton" is equivalent to "Kenko PRO1D Prosofton Clear(W)". The softening effect is applied only to point light sources such as stars, and does not affect the surrounding scenery, making it suitable for starry landscapes or when you do not want to apply softening effects to anything other than stars.

Works perfectly with wide-angle lenses Since two effects can be achieved with a single filter, it eliminates the need for stacking filters and reduces the risk of vignetting and flare.
