The White Oak Destillery is a perfect example of one of these rising suns in the sky of Japan. The license of this distillery dates back to 1919. White OAK was the first distillery in Japan to distillate whisky. However, a name was made mainly as a producer of Shochu and Sake. The modern era of whisky began in 1984 when the White Oak DESTILLERIE was built near the Kobe port. The whiskies from this distillery were mainly used for the AKASHI BLENDED WHISKY, which is why older AKASHI SINGLE MALT is still a coveted rarity. Only a few bottles of 5 or 12 year old single malts come to Europe every year. Matured for 5 years in Spanish sherry barrels. No added dyes or cold filtration.
