Description The Lonsdale brand was founded in London in 1960 by the then 22-year-old British boxer Bernhard Hart. Namesake for his brand was Hugh Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale (1857-1944), who made a name for himself in modern boxing sports in the 1890s.
