Product Description LOCTITE 577 - Universal thread sealant LOCTITE's thread sealant is medium strength and can be used universally for conical and cylindrical threaded connections. The heat resistant metal adhesive seals and secures at the same time: gaps are filled and an immediate sealing effect against low pressures is achieved for metal pipe connections. Although the thread sealant is liquid, the thixotropic properties prevent the adhesive from running off for easy application. As a universally applicable sealant, the metal adhesive is heat resistant and withstands both chemical and thermal stresses. The plumbing sealant can be used for all passive metals such as stainless steel and for active metals such as copper. To use, clean all surfaces with a solvent-based cleaner and allow to dry. In case of inactive metal surfaces or a too slow curing speed, spray with an activator (LOCTITE SF 7471 or SF 7649). Apply the adhesive 360° in a ring on the end of the male thread, leaving the first thread free. Spread adhesive down to the top of the thread to fill the gaps. For larger threads, adjust the quantity accordingly and also apply the product 360° in a ring on the internal thread. Screw-in pipe threads as usual and tighten with a tool until alignment is correct. With properly tightened connections, an immediate sealing effect against low pressures is achieved. For maximum pressure and solvent resistance, allow the product to cure for at least 24 hours.
