Description
Product Description As the second edition of Global Business Strategy, this book provides novel insights on how a firm can formulate a successful approach toward its global business from both the Western and Asian perspectives. In this respect, the book's overall goal is to bridge the gap between these two different viewpoints. This second edition includes more recent business theories, techniques, and cases within the field of global business strategy. Specifically, it includes new theories and techniques like creating shared value (CSV), the global value chain, platform strategy, and business ecosystem. They are shown to be important tools for enhancing competitiveness and maintaining sustainability among firms in today's rapidly changing international business environment. This is very much evident today given the critical challenges arising from the trade tensions between the United States and China, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital transformation, and the unprecedented disruptions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. We hope that this book will serve as a useful companion for students, business practitioners, policymakers, and the more general readers interested in issues related to competitiveness and business. About the Author Professor Hwy-Chang Moon (PhD from University of Washington) is Professor Emeritus of the Graduate School of International Studies at Seoul National University where he also served as the Dean, Overseas Professor at Beijing Normal University, and Chairperson of the Institute for Policy and Strategy on National Competitiveness. He is also Consultant to UNCTAD, and Honorary Ambassador of Foreign Investment Promotion for South Korea. He has taught as fulltime or invited professor at the University of Washington, University of the Pacific, State University of New York at Stony Brook, Helsinki School of Economics, Keio University, and Stanford University. His area of expertise includes topics such as international competitiveness, cross-cultural management, and Korean business and economy. Professor Moon has conducted many consulting/research projects for multinational companies (e.g., Samsung Electronics Co.), international organizations (e.g., UNCTAD), and governments (e.g., Korea, Malaysia, Dubai, Azerbaijan, Guangdong Province of China, and India). He has published numerous articles and books, including The Strategy for Korea's Economic Success (2016, Oxford University Press) and The Art of Strategy: Sun Tzu, Michael Porter, and Beyond (2018, Cambridge University Press).
