About the Author Melodena Stephens, PhD, is Professor of Innovation Management, Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) in Dubai, UAE. Prior to MBRSG, she was one of the first female Indian deans for a German University, Karlshochschule International University, and prior to that she also held various positions, including Deputy Dean, in the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), one of UAE's oldest private universities. Melodena has over 25+ years of corporate and academic experience and has lived in India, USA, Taiwan, UAE and Germany. She actively works with startups as a mentor and consults with governments and institutions. Her field of expertise is strategy and more specifically impact valuation, scaling, leadership, marketing and reputation management. She has published extensively and is the Series Editor of the Actions & Insights Middle East case book series which is in its 8th volume. She has won several teaching and research awards, including two UAE National Research Foundation grants. Melodena is the founder of the Academy of International Business Middle East North Africa Chapter (AIBMENA), a nonprofit social initiative founded in 2009 in Dubai under UOWD.
