About the Author Indranil Samanta obtained his Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry degree (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) from West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Kolkata, India. He secured his Masters in Veterinary Sciences (M.V.Sc.) in Veterinary Bacteriology and Mycology from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, UP, India and Ph.D in Veterinary Microbiology from West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Kolkata, India. He currently works as an Assistant Professor of Veterinary Microbiology in West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Kolkata, India. Previously he also worked as an Assistant Professor of Veterinary Microbiology in the S.K. University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir, India and as a Veterinary Officer in Government of West Bengal, India. He is actively engaged in the teaching of undergraduate, postgraduate graduate and Ph.D scholars of Veterinary Microbiology and research related to animal health and zoonotically important microbes. He has received ten grants from national funding agencies and has supervised five postgraduate scholars. His current area of research is on the emergence of drugresistant, biofilm producing zoonotic and foodborne pathogens in food animals including poultry and other birds.
