The main goal of the present research was to synthesize new fluorine and chlorine substituted chalcone derivatives and to study their structural and nonlinear optical properties. The major reason behind selecting chalcone derivatives for this study is due to easy method of synthesis, cost effectiveness and easily enhance the nonlinearity through simple structure modifications. The synthesized chalcones are interesting materials for NLO device applications due to their higher nonlinearities. In this book important results obtained in the present investigation along with future scope for the research on chalcone derivatives are highlighted.
