Ce livre propose d''éclairer les processus à l''œuvre dans l''actualisation d''un réseau social en une communauté virtuelle d''apprentissage, et ceci dans un dispositif de formation initiale. Il expose tout d''abord les enjeux du lien social médiatisé par le lien technologique dans un campus virtuel. Puis présente le cadre conceptuel des processus d''apprentissage sociaux mais également individuels qui se cristallisent dans une communauté d''apprenants à travers le concept de "Faire Œuvre". Un modèle de la dynamique des liens sociaux en différents lieux (virtuels et face à face) est proposé afin d''appréhender l''ingénierie pédagogique d''un dispositif de formation intégrant la dimension communautaire. L''approche ethnologique utilisée pour évaluer ce modèle décrit les facteurs d''émergence d''une tribu de 450 étudiants observés pendant 6 mois à distance grâce à l''étude des rites d''interaction en ligne et des apprentissages vécus. Le livre conclut sur le paradoxe des communautés d''apprenants (contrôle vs lâcher-prise) et propose enfin des activités pour favoriser les échanges socio-cognitifs au sein de phénomènes communautaires, souvent informels et auto-organisés.
