Die neuen Rahmenbedingungen von Basel II führen zur Notwendigkeit einer simultanen Optimierung von Finanzierung und Investition. Durch die optimale Gestaltung der Kapitalstruktur, der Sicherheitenbestände für Fremdfinanzierung und des Investitionsprogramms im Hinblick auf ihre Bonitätsbeurteilung können Kreditnehmer ihren Kreditkostensatz beeinflussen. Ausgehend von der Beschreibung der Neuregelungen von Basel II und der Darstellung von Ratingverfahren analysiert Jens Steinbrügge Modelle, mit deren Hilfe eine optimale Aufteilung von vorhandenen Sicherheiten auf bestehende Verbindlichkeiten und die Ableitung eines Investitions- und Finanzierungsprogramms zur Maximierung des Unternehmenswertes ermittelt werden können. Im Ergebnis wird allerdings deutlich, dass trotz der Reduzierung von Fremdkapitalkosten durch ein besseres Rating die Maximierung des Bonitätsurteils nicht zwingend zu einer gleichzeitigen Maximierung des Unternehmenswertes führen muss.
