Sie begründen sich unter anderem durch höhere Insolvenzquoten des Mittelstandes, der Eigenkapitalschwäche und der Unerfahrenheit mit den hervorgehenden Ratings. Wie sind die aus den Risiken resultierenden Gefahren zu minimieren und die möglichen Chancen optimal zu nutzen? Zur Lösung der Fragestellung ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Thematik unausweichlich. Es erscheint somit empfehlenswert sich, wie die Kreditinstitute, aktiv und rechtzeitig den „neuen" Herausforderungen zu stellen. Die Konsequenzen aus Basel II schlagen sich zeitversetzt über den Bankensektor bis auf die kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen durch. In Presse und Literatur werden die Wirkungen kontrovers diskutiert. ... Eine mangelnde strategische Ausrichtung und Auseinandersetzung mit den Erfolgspotentialen der Unternehmen gepaart mit einer fehlenden Frühaufklärung sind häufig auffindbare Krisenursachen. Die Anwendung von Grundinstrumenten der strategischen Planung ist häufig unzureichend. Gründe finden sich in der zeitlichen Auslastung der Geschäftsleitung mit dem operativen Tagesgeschäft, diverser Vorbehalte und mentaler Widerstände ggü. den entsprechenden Maßnahmen zu deren Einführung. ..... Schwächen in der langfristigen Erfolgssicherung werden zum Teil von unsystematischen und unregelmäßigen operativen Planungen und Erfolgskontrollen begleitet. Deren Ursachen liegen oftmals im nicht ausreichend installierten internen Rechnungswesen und seinem ungeklärten Verantwortungsbereich. .... Sich aus dem typischen Krisenverlauf etablierende Liquiditätsengpässe können häufig nur mit Hilfe von Aufstockungen der Kreditlinien bei Banken überbrückt
