Er stellt Kunstkritik als eine fallweise Erprobung dar, die Maßstäbe eher kritisch diskutiert, als sie unbefragt vorauszusetzen. Der Autor verbindet sein theoretisches Modell mit Textanalysen, in denen er unter anderem die Reaktionen der Kritik auf die Expo-Ausstellung "How you look at it" und die Documenta 11 auf ihre Leistungsfähigkeit hin untersucht.
