Тонина шерсти является одним из главных показателей при отнесении овец к тому или иному направлению продуктивности и тесно связана с технологическими свойствами шерсти и конституционально-продуктивными особенностями животных. В связи с этим,в работе представлен материал о влиянии австралийских мериносовых баранов и их помесей с тониной шерсти 58, 60, 64 качества на конституционнально-продуктивные признаки и биологические особенности потомства, полученного при скрещивании таких производителей с матками кавказской породы.Научные исследования показали, что при разведении тонкорунных овец для осеменения следует использовать баранов-производителей преимущественно с шерстью тониной 60-58 качества. Такое направление племенной работы обеспечит не только повышение настрига шерсти, но и будет способствовать получению более крупных животных, с крепкой конституцией, более приспособленных к содержанию и кормлению в экстремальных условиях.
