Somit nahm auch das Bewusstsein in der Forschung, der Politik und der Arbeitswelt über die Ausmaße der Gesundheitsfolgen von der psychischen (Fehl-)Belastung am Arbeitsplatz zu. Eine Prämisse zur Verfolgung arbeitswissenschaftlicher Prinzipien für den nachhaltigen Gesundheitserhalt liegt in dem validen, objektiven, praktikablen und nicht zuletzt in dem ökonomischen „Detektieren“ etwaiger (Fehl-)Belastung an Arbeitsplätzen. Die Idee, das endogene, spontane und unwillkürliche Lidschlagverhalten des Menschen und insbesondere die Lidschlag- oder Lidschlussfrequenz als objektiven Indikator für die aktuelle kognitive Beanspruchung zu nutzen, ist nicht neu. Trotz der recht zahlreichen Studien sind die Erkenntnisse bis heute nicht hinreichend. Norman Reßut widmet sich daher der Zielstellung, die aktuelle Erkenntnislage vom Zusammenhang der psychisch (mentalen) Belastung/ Beanspruchung und dem Lidschlagverhalten in Teilen zu überprüfen und zu erweitern.
