Es formt die Gesellschaft genauso, wie die Gesellschaft das Individuum formt.¿ (Mead 1991; S.28) Interkulturelle Kommunikation ist in aller Munde und damit auch die Auseinandersetzung mit Kommunikations- und Interaktionsstrukturen im internationalen Rahmen. Trotz der Schwierigkeiten, die mit Interkulturellen Lernens verbunden sind, zeigen vielerlei Beispiele, dass ein Interkulturelles Verstehen möglich wird; dass Kommunikation abseits bekannter sprachlicher Regelwerke definiert werden kann; dass es für Personen unterschiedlicher Herkunft möglich wird, gemeinsame Interaktionssymbole zu finden. Im Rahmen eines interkulturellen Austauschprogrammes kamen sieben junge Menschen verschiedener Kontinente, verschiedener sprachlichen und kulturellen Hintergründe zusammen ¿ gefördert durch gemeinsame Spiele und Aktivitäten entwickelten sie in kurzer Zeit gemeinsam verstandene Symbole, Regeln und sprachliche Verständigungsmöglichkeiten. Das vorliegende Buch begibt sich auf die Reise, diesen Prozess zu begleiten.
