Das Buch verfolgt drei Fragen: Wie werden die Demonstrativa „dieser, dieses, diese" und „der, die, das" im gesprochenen Deutsch verwendet, wie werden diese Demonstrativa durch erwachsene Lerner des Deutschen erworben und wie werden sie in Lehrwerken für Deutsch als Fremdsprache vermittelt? Neben einer Diskussion grammatischer und sprachwissenschaftlicher Beschreibungen werden hierfür erstmals empirische Untersuchungen an umfassenden Korpora gesprochener Sprache vorgelegt, zudem werden auch Lehrwerke als Korpus untersucht. Weiter ist es Anliegen der Arbeit, einen multiperspektivischen Ansatz als Basis für sprachbezogene fremdsprachendidaktische Entscheidungen vorzustellen, in dem funktionale Sprachbeschreibung, Sprachgebrauch und Spracherwerb gleichermaßen Berücksichtigung finden.
