La recodification du Code de la consommation atteste de l'existence de règles communes applicables quel que soit le contrat conclu entre un professionnel et un consommateur, que la précédente édition de ce traité avait mise en lumière. Cependant, au-delà de cette formalisation, cette deuxième édition élabore un "droit commun" du contrat de consommation. L'ouvrage expose la notion de contrat de consommation. Il analyse la protection du consentement du consommateur aux différentes étapes du processus contractuel : lors des pratiques commerciales (par la loyauté), lors de la formation du contrat et lors de sa reconduction. Il traite du régime du contrat de consommation (notamment les clauses abusives, la garantie de conformité et la portabilité d'un contenu en ligne). Enfin, il met en lumière le droit processuel du contrat de consommation par l'analyse des MARL et des actions en justice émanant tant des consommateurs que des associations les représentant (dont l'action de groupe). L'ouvrage donne une vision complète des droits européen, interne et international privé sur le sujet. Il expose les changements opérés par la loi relative à la consommation, la loi pour une République numérique, la recodification du Code de la consommation et la réforme du droit des contrats. Il envisage de façon prospective les évolutions suscitées par les propositions de directives concernant les contrats de vente et les contrats de fourniture de contenu numérique.
