About the Author Eleanor Hoskins is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Manchester Metropolitan University where she specialises in teaching early years and primary science.  In this role, she has introduced and taught many early years science sessions in the postgraduate and undergraduate Initial Teacher Training programmes and oversees early years curriculum input across the whole BA Primary Education (3-11) degree.  Alongside this, she supervises numerous trainee teachers throughout their school placements including many within early years settings. Before this, Eleanor taught for ten years in primary and early years settings across two different L.As and gained experiences as a School Improvement teacher, Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo. Within her school management role, she contributed to the creation and organisation of a new, functioning, open plan foundation stage before many other schools and settings had progressed to this level.  Further expertise within EYFS involved trialing new approaches to continuous provision learning and taking a proactive lead with children, parents and staff to ensure thorough transition for children between EYFS into KS1.
