About the Author Nelson Durán is a Professor of Chemistry at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP (Brazil). He received his PhD at University of Porto Rico (USA). Associated Professor at the Universidad Católica de Valparaiso, Chile and carried out Visiting Professorship at Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. In 1978, he joined the Chemistry Institute of UNICAMP (Brazil) working in Biological Chemistry and Biotechnology. His present research interests are nanobiotechnology in cosmetics and in pharmaceuticals, besides metallic nanoparticles as antibiotics and anticancer carriers, and in carbon and silica nanocarriers. He is the Coordinator of the Brazilian Network on Nanotoxicology; Member of National Institute R&D&I in Functional Complex Materials (INOMAT) (MCTI/CNPq) and Vice Coordinator of Laboratory of Synthesis of Nanostrutures and Biosystem Interactions (NanoBioss) (MCTI) and Member of Brazilian-NanoReg-European Community, in vivo nanotoxicology. He published 438 papers (ISI)(h factor: 49) and 392 papers non ISI, book chapters and patents, in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology and in nanobiotechnology and four Books in the Nanotechnology area ((1) N. He is majored in chemistry at Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP - Brazil) (2011) and received his Master's Degree at UNICAMP (2014). He holds academic and industrial experiences, as well as a background of technological innovation and technology transferring. He worked at Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos (CBC - Brazil) as Chemical Analyst for one and half year, holding experience in control quality and strategic projects for optimization of production, training of team and development of human resources.
