Description

Product Description Plant Bioactives as Natural Panacea Against Age-induced Diseases: Nutraceuticals and Functional Lead Compounds for Drug Development presents comprehensive information on the complications of aging and the bioactive phytochemicals that in specific herbal formulations, including beverages, can mitigate them. The book extensively describes the current information on the role of plant bioactive components in delaying or preventing the aging process and associated complications, while also covering different strategies and scientific evidence of possible synergistic effects of these studies, enabling the formulation of more effective natural drugs to intervene in aging and associated events. Chapters cover the broad areas of plant bioactive compounds in promoting healthy aging and longevity, including balancing glucose homeostasis, in cognitive impairments, age-related diseases, food trends and the anti-aging diet in Asia and other regions, as well as the social and economic impact of dietary patterns in aging interventions. Written by a team of global experts. Review Provides a comprehensive overview of the molecular aspects of plant bioactives in the prevention of aging From the Back Cover Plant Bioactives as Natural Panacea Against Age-induced Diseases: Nutraceuticals and Functional Lead Compounds for Drug Development presents in detail the complications of aging and the bioactive phytochemicals that in specific herbal formulations including beverages can mitigate them. About the Author Dr. Kanti Bhooshan Pandey is a Senior Scientist and Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Biological Sciences, AcSIR; CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Gujarat, India. He is doctorate in Biochemistry. His research expertise includes clinical biochemistry, food biochemistry, molecular cell biology, and Gerontology. He has done significant work on investigation of molecular mechanisms of action of plant-derived polyphenols, a major constituent in food and vital in nutrition point of view. He is working to investigate human aging impairments at molecular level including cellular signaling. He has designed a new protocol in cell biology and investigated a novel mechanism of action of bioactive compounds involved in cellular homeostasis and ascorbate recycling. His findings have found commercial applications. Dr. Pandey is the recipient of many national and international fellowships and has been authored more than 57 research papers and book chapters. He is in the editorial/advisory board of many reputed international journals. Dr. Maitree Suttajit is Professor Emeritus previously at School of Medicine, Chiangmai University and later at School of Medical Sciences, University of Phayao, Thailand. He was Dean of this School between 2010-2015 and currently acts as a Research Advisor. He got his Ph.D from SUNY/Buffalo, USA in
