About the Author Dr. Jyothis Mathew (MSc., Ph.D.) is a Professor at School of Biosciences of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and as former Director, School of Biosciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. He has ~20 years of research experience, has published ~103 research publications, 5 book chapters and 2 popular science articles. So far nine PhDs have been completed under his guidance. He has completed three major research projects from various funding agencies. His research areas include characterization of medically important bacteria with emphasis on the study of emerging pathogens, studies on Immunomodulatory effects of common thirst quenchers used in Kerala, antimicrobial activities of some medicinal plants. Dr. Midhun Sebastian Jose has completed his doctoral degree from School of Biosciences of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India in 2020. During his 4 years of research, he has published 16 research publications, 2 book chapters and 4 popular science articles. His research areas include characterization of probiotic bacteria with emphasis on its application in aquaculture, studies on Immunomodulatory effects of common probiotics as well as medicinal plants, antimicrobial activities plants or plant derived compounds, microbial synthesis of nanaoparticles, microbial studies on animal models (rat and fish) and studies on endophytes.
