Description

This collection develops innovative concepts and research methods to understand contemporary political persuasion strategies across public arenas. The book introduces a dramaturgical rhetoric analytical framework applicable to policy-making, current affairs media and activism. Drawing on epistemic governance and cultural membership categorisation analysis, it presents empirical case studies of political discourse from six European countries: Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Portugal and Russia. The work refines existing approaches to rhetoric and politics whilst establishing new research pathways for scholars and practitioners studying how political actors construct moral authority through discourse and performance in modern democracies.
