Description

Neil Gardner's Said the Blackbird stands as one of the rarest artefacts of the singer-songwriter era. Originally pressed in just 50 copies in 1972 by Tasmanian label Spectangle in distinctive mustard coloured sleeves, this obscure gem has been reissued for the first time by Half a Cow. Gardner performs all tracks on the album, which he composed entirely himself, crafting a deeply personal sonic journey. The reissue includes a facsimile of the original lyric booklet, preserving the album's unique character and the intriguing notation that it was "recorded using Gnome Power." Perfect for devoted collectors and admirers of Roy Harper and The Incredible String Band, this vinyl pressing brings Gardner's singular vision back into circulation after decades of obscurity.

Key Features

Neil Gardner's Said the Blackbird vinyl features all compositions by Gardner himself, performed with full band arrangements on this rare 1972 original recording.

This first-ever reissue by Half a Cow restores the mustard coloured sleeve design originally created from surplus inners for George Harrison's All Things Must Pass.

The vinyl includes a facsimile of the original lyric booklet, authentically reproducing the album's historical packaging and liner notes.

Limited to just 50 copies when first pressed in 1972 by Tasmanian label Spectangle, making this reissue an essential acquisition for serious collectors of obscure singer-songwriter records.
